INDUCTED 1985 - WALTER JOHNSON 
 
 
Walter Johnson was inducted into the California Hall of Fame at the age of 84.

Walter did not begin registering until he was 65. His victories in California go back to 1970, when he was Veteran Singles Champion, a title he won again in 1979. During the 1984 state shoot, he won senior vet awards in two preliminary handicap races and was HOA senior veteran winner. At the 1985 State shoot he lead senior vets in the Class Championships and tied for the 70 and over prize in the State Singles Championship.

Walter has earned 21 category awards at the Grand American, including trophies in the Doubles Championship, Clay Target Championship, Grand American Handicap, All-Around and High-Over-All. From 1968 to 1982 he earned at least one trophy at the Grand each year except in 1973, 1978 and 1981.

Walter has a total of 11 Golden West Grand prizes to his credit. He was senior vet champ in the Spring Grand Singles Championship in 1980 and 1981, and he was All-Around senior vet leader there in 1982. In 1976 he was vet singles champ at the ATA Western Zone Shoot.

Except for 1971 and 1974, Walter was selected to the All-American team as a veteran every year from 1969 to 1977, and he earned a spot on the 1981 senior vet team.

Walter Johnson was inducted in to the California Trapshooting Hall of Fame in 1985.
